James Mirfin

James Mirfin is a Senior Vice President and Global Head of Risk and Identity Solutions (RaIS) in Visa’s Value-Added Services organization. In this role, he and his team are responsible for engaging with financial institutions, merchants, and partners around the world to help make payments simpler and more secure. At Visa, enabling payment success, securely, is priority one and his team’s customer-centric solutions help to do that. Visa’s RaIS are delivered through a portfolio of real-time fraud prevention and authentication services, underpinned by data engineers and scientists, predictive modeling and analytics, advanced AI, and machine learning.

Prior to assuming this position in April 2023, James served as Head of Strategy and Operations where he helped redefine the strategic priorities and operating model for RaIS, as one of Visa’s fastest growing businesses. He previously led the digital identity, fraud, and risk intelligence businesses at LSEG (Refinitiv) and held leadership positions with American Express and PayPal. His career has spanned multiple geographies, having been based in London, Hong Kong, Thailand, India, Singapore, and New York.

James earned a Master of Business Administration degree from University of Warwick (Warwick Business School) and holds a Bachelor’s degree with Honors from University of Plymouth. He currently resides in Texas and is an experienced mentor, board advisor and investor.
