Matthew Kabaker

Mr. Kabaker joined Centerbridge in 2011 and focuses on investments in financial services, institutions and assets in the United States and Europe. Prior to joining Centerbridge, Mr. Kabaker was a Senior Advisor to former Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Capital Markets at the U.S. Treasury Department in Washington, D.C. At the U.S. Treasury Department, in addition to establishing the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Capital Markets, Mr. Kabaker was active in efforts to design the policy response to the financial crisis, design and implement the Dodd-Frank financial reforms and address housing finance reform including government-sponsored entities. Mr. Kabaker served on the U.S. Treasury Department's Financial Stability Policy Council and Housing Policy Council. Prior to joining the U.S. Treasury Department in 2008, Mr. Kabaker was a Managing Director at Blackstone where he worked in the firm's private equity business in New York and London for over 10 years. While at Blackstone, Mr. Kabaker focused on investments in the financial services and retail sectors. Mr. Kabaker earned a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated summa cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Kabaker serves on the Boards of Directors of Aktua Soluciones Financieras, S.L. (and affiliated entities), Bluestem Group Inc. (formerly known as Capmark Financial Group Inc.) and Focus Financial Partners, LLC (and affiliated entities).
